The first thing you need to do to save money is to top spending. I'm serious. Don't spend another dime until you have a plan, except maybe on toilet paper. Don't go out to eat, buy only what you absolutely must at the grocery store and obviously, cut out the morning coffee from Starbucks.
How to Save Money Fast
Stopping spending is how to save money fast. There is not other way around it. You most likely cannot get back the money you have already squandered on frivolous purchases. You can only save what you already have.
If you are in a dire situation, you will need to resort to dire measures. This of what you absolutely need to survive. This is the key to saving money fast. You will need food, shelter, clothing, heat, and transportation. The cost of these vary wildly. If you are in a desperate situation, you may need to consider selling your car and investing in a bus pass. You know, I hope, that eating at home will yield savings over eating out, and that making most things from scratch yields even more savings. Start googling recipes for your favorite foods.
Don't buy clothes, shoes, or stereo equipment. If you came here by googling "how to save money fast" than you obviously need to save money, and fast.
Here is what I can tell you, not knowing you at all.
I don't know what it is that you need to do to save money. I don't know where it is that you spend money. You can find out by writing down all of your expenditures and your desired expenditures. If you are going to cut back spending, write down not only what you spend on, but what you are tempted to spend on. This way you can evaluate your weaknesses and, if necessary, give yourself a reasonable monthly or annual budget for them, or put them on your birthday and Christmas list.
You will find that writing down all of your expenses will show you what you are spending on and where you can cut. Think absolute necessities if you are in a desperate situation. Cookies are not necessities.
